Behavioral Medicine
We emphasize the proper raising and training of your pets. We offer puppy classes at the clinic to help properly socialize your dog during their early development so they will have the proper lifetime skills to be a good companion.

Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. With a proper exam and with a good history we can help you determine if your pets actions or medical condition are behavior related. If necessary we can refer you to a trained behaviorist.

Compassionate Care
At Town and Country Animal Clinic and our Lakeview Animal Clinic, we treat your pets as if they are our own, from the time they enter our offices until the time that they leave.

Cat and Kitten Care
We focus on our cat and kitten patients by offering a full range of services. We recommend all our feline patients be tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus which we can do while you wait. Annual wellness exams, individualized immunizations, and senior blood screens are all important to provide a long and healthy life. Whether your cat or kitten is indoors only or also travels the outside, we can help design a health care protocol and feeding program to suit their needs.

Dermatology
Cases involving the skin may be challenging. Whether you pet has lumps to be checked out, or they itch themselves raw, or they are losing hair, we will provide the expertise to help find answers. Many of our skin cases require patience on the part of our clients because many times the answers are not easy to find. We utilize careful history taking, laboratory results (skin scrapings, impression smears, fine needle aspirates, ear cytologies, allergy testing, and bloodwork), and skin biopsies to gather information for a diagnosis. In very difficult cases we make referrals to board certified dermatologists.

Dental Care
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.

Their specialized focus on emergency medicine and their round the clock office hours enable them to offer a consistently high level of care to the pets they treat.

Your pets will never be left unattended while in their care and they will receive necessary treatments at any time, day or night. We feel it is in your pet's best interest, in the event of an after hours emergency, to be treated by a fully staffed veterinary clinic who can offer quality care for your pet. They are also available to answer questions and suggest first aid procedures for your pet. They provide us with all examinations and procedures performed and we provide feedback to them.

What sets us apart?

There is no such thing as a routine surgery in our clinics. Spays and neuters are major surgical procedures that require proper skill and care that is provided by our health care team .

We utilize a dedicated surgical suite.

We use a newly steam sterilized surgical pack on each and every spay and neuter.

Doctors are gowned and gloved to maintain a sterile surgical environment. Advanced anesthesia monitoring is used on every patient.

Our clients have the option (based on age of pet) of requesting pre-anesthetic blood work and intravenous fluids to increase the safety of anesthesia and surgery.

Every patient is treated as an individual, with the type and kind of anesthesia modified to meet the patient’s needs.

Every patient in our hospital is up to date on vaccination for the protection of the pets in our hospital.

Most importantly, we treat your pet as if they were our own. The individual attention, kindness, and care starts when they enter our doors and continues all the way to our dedicated recovery room and until they are ready to go home.

If you have any questions at all, please ask us as we are dedicated to providing the excellent care that you want for your pet.

Zoonotic Disease Prevention
Zoonotic diseases are those that can be transmitted from animals to people. The information we provide makes living with your pet healthier for them and for you.

For more detail on zoonotic disease we encourage you to visit www.petsandparasites.org.

Strategy for Dog Owners: Heartworm test your dog every year and place them on year round Interceptor or Sentinel. Both products worm against roundworms and hookworm every month to control infection of your dog and prevent contamination of their environment. This protects your dog from the devastating effects of heartworm disease and intestinal parasites but also protects your children, your grandchildren, and your neighborhood children. Protect those little people who do not always wash their hands before they put their fingers in their mouths.

Strategy for Cat Owners: Use Revolution on your cat every month to control roundworm and hookworm infection in your cat. Even inside only cats can have repeated roundworm infections. Revolution also controls fleas, ear mites, and heartworm disease in cats. Revolution will not only keep your cat healthier but will also protect your children, your grandchildren, and your neighborhood children. Protect those little people who do not always wash their hands before they put their fingers in their mouths.

Please Note: Homeopathic Remedies or Alternative Therapies do not work to protect those we live with.

Reproductive Services

Artificial Insemination
Our clinic has provided artificial insemination as a means to help our purebred dog breeders maximize success in their breeding programs for 27 years. We can fresh collect the male, use fresh chilled semen shipped to our office, or use frozen semen shipped to our office. Pregnant purebred dogs and litters of happy puppies is our goal!

    Trans - Cervical Insemination
This is an artificial insemination using our rigid endoscope to place the semen through the cervix and into the uterus. This procedure is usually done once (like surgical insemination) in a cycle but could be done twice if requested. This procedure does take a calm dog to get good results.

    Surgical Insemination
Surgical insemination is a one time breeding to maximize sperm concentration in the uterus and therefore to enhance fertilization process. Surgical insemination is done two days after ovulation.

Caesarian Section
One of the happiest events in a veterinary clinic is the successful delivery of puppies or kittens. All owners who breed their dogs or cats should be prepared emotionally and financially for a caesarian section every time they choose to breed their dog or cat. We have a caring and determined health care team to help get the newborns going and to take proper care of the mother before, during, and after surgery.

Spay and Neuter
If you are not planning on breeding your pet, then we recommend that you have your pet spayed or neutered. A spay is an ovariohysterectomy and a neuter is a castration.

The health benefits for both male and female pets and the prevention of unwanted puppies or kittens makes this the preferred course for most clients.

We recommend having these procedures done at five (5) months of age or older.

For females, if they are spayed before the first heat cycle we will reduce the risk of breast cancer by 90%. If they are spayed between the first and second heat cycle we will reduce the risk of breast cancer by 50%. Spayed females also have no risk of a uterine infection (pyometra) following a heat cycle.

For males, there is the elimination of possible testicular cancer, reduction in prostate problems, reduction of peri-rectal tumors and hernias, and less reason to wander.

What is the difference between our clinic and a reduced rate spay/neuter clinic?
There is no such thing as a routine surgery in our clinics. Spays and neuters are major surgical procedures that require proper skill and care that is provided by our health care team .
